"I need a tissue please" A social story

I learn a whole myriad of things at the developmental pre-school. Last week we read, "I need a tissue please." It is a social story-a story to teach kids the ins and outs, the do's and do nots in life.
I learned the following vocabulary:
SNOT mucus that is still in liquid form
BOOGERS mucus that is dried.

I don't really know how I survived childhood. I always thought boogers and snot were one in the same.

I used to shower

My friend Debbie..."Used to shower every day but then she contracted an inner fat boy...."

As of Late

Oh my life! I love it.
Elder Maxwell speaks of humility in the following terms:
"Humility is not the disavowal of our worth; rather, it is the sober realization of how much we are valued by God. Nor does true humility call for the denigration of what truth we already know; rather it is the catching of one's breath as he realizes how very little that which we mortals presently know really is!(
All These Things Shall Give Thee Experience[Salt Lake City: Deseret Book CO., 1979,] p. 127)
I love "...cathings one's breath.." right now. I haven't had much time to get in a full breath as of late. Each day I am reminded of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the tremendous and infinite atonement of our Savior Jesus Christ. I feel as if I have offered up very little on my altar in the last few weeks and yet I am reaping an abundance of blessings. I am afforded opportunities to share my testimony and confidence in the covenants I have made in the temple and the blessing it was to have served a mission to the girl who cuts my hair and who is right this minute, contemplating a mission. I spent an evening with Bekah in preparation for her upcoming wedding. She will be sealed in the Portland, Oregon Temple and as we work together, I am sure of her desire to honor those covenants and to her testimony of the gospel. I have a living network of sisters and friends and returned missionaries from the CASRM. I laugh and cry daily. Life is good.
More to follow.

Boy and Girl

On Sunday Devin wanted to play dominoes at my place. Dorthy thought caramel popcorn at her house was a more appealing way to spend a Sunday late night evening. Upon Devin's arrival at my apt., the following texting conversation ensued, via my cell phone and hers. I became his scribe.
To Dorthy: Devin says if you came down here, it would be an hour of him. If you don't, he might forgive you.
From Dorthy: Hmmm...I wouldn't be able to stay more than hour by the time I got there, so maybe not tonight. Thanks though.
To Dorthy: Devin wants you to come down here. You can say what you want.

The next part titled "To Dorthy" is mostly Devin

From Dorthy: I'm just going to have faith in his merciful nature. But if you guys came up here, he could have more than an hour of me;)
To Dorthy: hehe. Devin: Though the summer may fade into fall, I cannot come to your place, our love will not fade at all.
From Dorthy: I bet he says that to all the girls
To Dorthy: He grabbed his heart and said "What? Rude, I only say that to a couple of girls. I don't even want your caramel popcorn. Plus, I haven't even met all the girls yet.
From Dorthy: So that's how it is, is it?
To Dorthy: However, brownies on the other hand would have been worth the trip
From Dorthy: Now I know the way to his heart(fist pump). Tell him I'll make him brownies and we'll go on a nice romantic walk!
To Dorthy: He says to just leave the brownies on the doorstep and you guys can talk later

The moral of the story? You choose.

On Being Old

The following is an excerpt from a texting conversation about my mad home making skills.

Rani: "Confession: I am learning those skills BUT I do not quilt. A boy once told me I should begin quilting so that I could get married. That was six years ago. Maybe I should reconsider picking it up."

Fact-I do not quilt. Yuck.
Fact-I think I will take my chances at staying single if quilting determines my eligibility.

C.S. Lewis

"Imagine yourself as a living house. God comes in to rebuild that house. At first, perhaps, you can understand what He is doing. He is getting the drains right and stopping the leaks in the roof and so on: you knew that those jobs needed doing and so you are not surprised. But presently, He starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does not seem to make sense. What on earth is he up to? The explanation is that He is building quite a different house from the one you thought of-throwing out a new wing here, putting on an extra floor there, running up towers, making courtyards. You thought you were going to be made into a decent cottage: but he is building a palace." (Mere Christianity [New York: MacMillan, 1960], p. 174.)

Sundays Phrases
"Obedience-desire, learn, and obey"
"Look to the Savior; he was obedient his whole life"
"We become more distinctly disciples of Jesus Christ(as we learn to sacrifice)"

Cowboy Boots

Roby McNeel is the real deal.
Roby mcNeel is from Wyoming.
When Roby McNeel says "hell yes" he is serious.
I asked him about cowboy(or in my case, cowgirl) boots.
I asked him if they were "slidey around" in the snow.
He said that some boots were "slidey" but it depended on the brand.
He said Ariats are the best because they are comfortable.
I asked about how cute they were because I wanted to find a healthy middle ground between cute and conventional.
He responded, "Haha. You are on your own if you want cute. I don't know the first thing about cute."
