I spent roughly 40 hours at the crisis nursery this weekend. Laurie and I became mommies of four children, the oldest being seven years old and the youngest just over a year. Classic moments include the following:
Laurie: "I was just trying to figure out how to get out of my nightgown. I thought, 'I can't take play basketball in a nightgown.'"
Rani: "I think I am going to be a frumpy Mom." To which Laurie agreed and included herself in that statement.
Four year old girl: "Are you going to wipe my butt?" When I asked her to take a bath, as well as, "I don't want no shampoo on my hair."
Rani: "They all could have been mine if I had gotten married at 19."
Six year old girl: After hugging her older brother so hard is tooth fell out, "I just popped his tooth out! Haha, I am so strong!"
Conclusions: I may just be a frumpy future mother. Six in the morning is so early, especially with an infant snoring on your chest. I will never dye my childrens hair a pumpkin neon color. I hope my kids are something like those kids. I drank more cool aide this weekend then EVER in my whole life. Laughter is the best medicine. Owies, tantrums, naked bums, white, starchy food, it's all so priceless. I want it. All.
